The Chief FinancialOfficer (CFO) is responsible for:



  • In conjunction with the President/CEO, leads Gateway's strategic financial planning and budgeting processes including the formulation and implementation of overall organization finance-related policies, goals and objectives. Develops, secures approval of, and implements goals, objectives, plans and budgets for finance division functions and activities.



  • Directs and monitors activities and performance of subordinate functions including:




  • * Accounting - recording and controlling all accounting transactions, and ensuring systems and procedures safeguard assets, provide viable management information, and are in accordance with accepted accounting and audit principles;



  • * Accounts Payable - processing and generating payment checks for various expenses, invoices, and payroll;



  • * Accounts Receivable - generating bills for client services, reviewing and posting payments and cash, and auditing and collecting bills and accounts;



  • * Financial Planning and Analysis - administration of budget process, and development and approval of annual budget reflecting sound projections of revenues and expenditures; development and preparation of reports and analyses for review by executives and Board members in evaluating and planning financial results, and financial condition of the organization;



  • * Supply Management -researching and procuring goods and services for the organization in the most cost effective manner.




  • Directs and manages Gateway's revenue cycle activities including charge capture, charge master, health information management, billing and collections, account adjudication and revenue cycle compliance. Acts as a resource on EHR systems.



  • Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports. Directs the production of monthly reports as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by the Executive Team and the Board of Directors.



  • Responsible for integrity of the organization's internal control structure to safeguard financial assets of the organization. Ensures all financial practices, systems, activities, and records are in compliance with applicable government and regulatory requirements as well as contractual and funding sources standards and obligations.



  • Ensures availability of financial resources to meet organization's current and future needs through oversight and management of organization's investments, liabilities, assets and receivables. Advises President of significant changes in various factors such as markets, tax laws, regulatory environment, revenues, or costs, which could necessitate changes or adjustments in overall financial plans and strategies.



  • Monitors and responds to the organization's financial position and communicates periodic reports on Gateway's financial stability, liquidity and growth to the CEO and Board of Directors. Responsible for communication of pertinent financial matters to the Board of Directors. Acts as staff resource to the Audit Committee.Participates in developing new business, assisting in identifying new funding opportunities, drafting of prospective programmatic budgets and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.



  • Oversees and directs activities andperformance of directors and managers and their assigned staffs. Instills a service excellence and success oriented team mentality through performance management, individual and team measurements and rewards. Interviews, hires, evaluates performance, assigns and schedules work, and recommends discipline and release from employment of assigned staff. Assists assigned directors and managers in resolving complex employee relations problems for their subordinates. Assists in executing staff succession and growth plans.



  • Participates in evaluation and planning of Gateway's overall administrative operations by serving as member of key administrative group and various committees, and contributing expertise in development of proposals, recommendations, and strategies that promote achievement of overall goals and business plans.



  • Serves as resource person or consultant to other senior management personnel on specific finance-related questions or issues. Works collaboratively with other managers and executives, the Board of Directors and external parties. Trains and coaches team members on financial matters.



  • Serves as Gateway representative to funding sources, third party payors, government agencies, accrediting bodies and other outside organizations on finance and accounting matters and issues.



  • Keeps current regarding trends and developments in accounting and finance planning, management, analyses and administration, and applicable laws and regulations, through reading of professional literature and attendance at appropriate seminars, conferences and workshops.


Requirements:



  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, statistical analyses, and applicable laws and regulations; refined communication skills in order to present information effectively in person or in writing at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master's degree in business administration, with emphasis in accounting or finance.



  • Ability to organize, evaluate, plan and ensure effective administration of all components of finance division in a multi-state/multi-site environment at a level normally acquired through ten years progressively more responsible, related experience with at least five years high-level managerial experience in a healthcare environment, including strong revenue cycle management experience.



  • Mastery of GAAP and solid understanding ofgovernment reimbursement and tax regulations. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Financial Healthcare Professional (CHFP) strongly preferred.
